Germantown man killed in I 270 crash with stalled truck
Maryland State Police report Germantown resident James Michael Mahoney 25 died after his 1984 Renault struck a breakdown truck with two flat tires on Interstate 270 near Shady Grove Road. He was pronounced at Shady Grove Hospital. Autopsy pending. He served in the Navy at National Naval Medical Center.

Funds approved for Maryland AIDS Hotline contract
The Board of Public Works approved a 416,944 three year contract with HERO to run the Maryland AIDS Hotline. HERO has operated the hotline since 1983 with support from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene since 1985. The statewide toll-free line is 1 300 638 6252. Since 1981 Maryland has reported 961 AIDS cases with 581 deaths. in 1987 there were 292 new cases and 144 deaths.
