Red Cross Volunteers Produce Thousands of Hospital Garments
Red Cross seamstresses in Frederick knit and sew for Frederick Memorial and Emergency Hospitals. In 2024 they produced 3,809 essential articles for operating rooms and wards. Led by Mrs. Ernest Webb since World War II, volunteers work Wednesdays and Thursdays in the Federated Charities Building, under strict accuracy to avoid waste. Church groups have helped, and the project is hailed for embodying the Red Cross slogan wherever Red Cross is.
