Thackston warns budget for instruction shrinking yearly
Frederick County education official Dr Alfred Thackston Jr says the instructional portion of the FY 82 budget is rising only in line with the board and warns that instruction’s share has fallen from 75 percent a decade ago to 67 percent in 1980, a $3.6 million gap. He notes four parts in FY 82: Foundation Program, Five Year Plan, special requests and teacher negotiations, with emphasis on maintaining current operations and expanding programs.
