May Tighten Motor Laws in Maryland Senate
In Annapolis on February 22 Senator Hoff of Carroll introduced nine motor vehicle bills. Key proposals tighten vision standards for licenses to 20 40 in one eye and 20 140 in the other or 20 100 in each eye with allowances for existing exemptions. Another bill raises headlight sight requirements to 350 feet, up from 300. The measures also seek to repeal sale of special license plates, require refunds only when plates are returned within 30 days, set first registration at 25 and 5 for extra plates, and add trailers to financial responsibility rules. The group adds boosts to the medical advisory board’s pay for meeting attendance.
