Walkersville Man Gets 18 Months For Weapons Violation
A Walkersville man Kenneth Wright, age 20, was sentenced in Frederick County Circuit Court to 18 months in the Frederick County Adult Detention Center after conviction on wearing and carrying a deadly weapon and battery. The judge also imposed three years of supervised probation and required counseling. Wright received 10 years for the battery, all suspended except the 18 months.

Truck wreck blocks southbound U S 15 near Emmitsburg
A jack-knifed tractor trailer blocked the south bound lanes of U S 15 near here on Wednesday night. The accident occurred about 9 45 p m between U S 140 and the Pennsylvania line. The truck owner from Lancaster Pa planned to send a tow truck and another tractor to pull its load. The driver refused treatment. Traffic remained blocked at presstime with no further details.

Man faces trial on charges he killed bear
A Montgomery County man, James T. Conner of Ashton, is to stand trial in April for shooting and killing an 80 to 90 pound black bear in western Garrett County last May near Hayes Run. He was arrested January 24 and released on 500 dollars bond, facing up to one year in jail and 2000 dollars fine if convicted.
