Gaithersburg planning group clarifies appeal board role
The Gaithersburg Planning Commission on Wednesday night advanced a draft clarifying the board of appeals review authority after a year of debate. If approved, the board will keep the review duties, with public comment to follow for a month. The panel also weighed sprinkler mandates for child day care framed dwellings and recommended site plan criteria to ensure neighborhood compatibility at concept review. A road landscaping plan for Md. 355 proposes a 20 foot median with 23 evergreens and flowering pears, funding to be decided by the mayor and council. The commission also advised limiting tertiary road use to low volume areas and discussed density allowances for an Observatory Heights infill project.
