Frederick Chest elects Newman president at annual meeting
Parsons Newman was named president of the Frederick Community Chest at its annual meeting on South Market Street. Other officers include Sesiamie L. Schuff as first vice president, Daniel Weinberg as second vice president, and Hubert L. Smith as secretary and treasurer. Five new delegates were elected to two year terms. roles include representatives from seven agencies and two delegates from each. The board discussed county-wide United Fund plans, financials show a 1956 balance of about $32,000 with $37,453 disbursed to seven member agencies, and a 1956 goal of $42,500 with $41,283 raised. Reports from Girl Scouts, Salvation Army, Esther Grinnage Kindergarten, Children’s Aid Society, YMCA, and Boy Scouts highlighted continued support and program expansion.
