Sweden Keeps Distance as Atlantic Pact Debate Rages
A Swedish Rotarian speaker, Oloff Ruin, outlined Sweden’s policy of staying out of the Atlantic Pact. He cited social welfare, a labor court, no unemployment, and heavy state support as core in Sweden. He warned that alliance could provoke Russian pressure on Finland and noted Sweden’s peace history and U.S. ties.
