Mississippi and GSX Chemical Services will present evidence on citations against the Columbia based firm over a trainload of 5000 tons of sludge from Baltimore known as the poo poo choo choo. A hearing was set for 10 a.m. to handle preliminary matters in the case.

Power outage hits Mount Airy after pole strike
More than 1,900 Potomac Edison customers lost power for over two hours Monday morning when a car struck a utility pole near Food Rite on South Main Street. Power was cut at 8:50 a.m. and restored by 11:30 a.m. The outage affected areas of Mount Airy and east to Lisbon. police reported no accident on record.

Wall collapse injures four construction workers in Maryland
Four workers were injured when a 50 foot by 20 foot masonry wall under construction collapsed in Columbia Maryland. The most seriously hurt, William Keene 65 of Baltimore, was rushed to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in serious but stable condition. Others treated at Howard County General Hospital for minor injuries and released. The wall was part of a building owned by the Rouse Company.

Frederick City Police hunt two white male suspects in a Tellhouse Avenue pharmacy robbery. About 4 43 pm Medical Arts Pharmacy was robbed of cash and drugs after the men displayed handguns. Ethics panel nears decision on Mount Airy mayor case
Mount Airy ethics commission may conclude its review of a conflict of interest Allegation against Mayor Linda Boyer tonight. At Oct 2 town council meeting, two computers were purchased for 1885 each from Microstar Computers, in which Mrs Boyer's husband holds 60 percent. Other bids were 3405 and 2300. Mrs Boyer did not vote. The Mount Airy Citizens Coalition sparked the ethics inquiry advised by town attorney Richard Murray.

Boy's science experiment sparks blaze in Wheaton home
A nine year old boy, Mike Moser, suffered first and second degree burns on his lower arms during a science experiment that started a fire at 7:22 a.m. in the basement of a two story brick home at 2703 Elnora St. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital and listed in good condition. Fire damage was estimated at 30000 dollars.
