Frederick board seeks to dismiss state hearing in teachers case

The Frederick County Board of Education filed a motion to dismiss the state Board of Education hearing set for March 4 and 9 in a dispute over three teachers denied contracts last spring. The motion, sent to the state board Tuesday, argues the state board lacked jurisdiction while the circuit court case was pending. The teachers withdrew a parallel circuit court motion earlier this month. The state board’s plan to discuss the motion at its Feb. 23 meeting may shift to an executive session, depending on the board’s action.
