City man's death ruled homicide in Frederick County

An elderly man, Robert A. Evans Jr., 80, was found dead in his ground floor apartment at Prospect Plaza in Frederick. Police call it a homicide with evidence at the scene. autopsy to determine cause. A burned Plymouth found Tuesday near Frederick Junction may be connected, with investigators noting a ransacked apartment and possible prior knowledge by the victim.

Mainstays of Middletown celebrate 90th birthday twins

Austin and Floyd Main, longtime Middletown figures and owners of Main's Meat Market since 1888, celebrated their 90th birthday at Lutheran Church. Austin served on the Board of Appeals since 1968 and retired recently, Floyd spent 40 years on the Middletown Board of Commissioners. The brothers also ran the family meat and ice cream business, now leased after Bruce Reeder purchased their building in 1969.

Family and friends shocked by killing of Robert Evans

The murder of Robert Evans stunned his family and friends. Evans, famed for the Bob Evans Restaurant name, frequented his Md 85 location nightly, dining at the counter near the kitchen and chatting with staff after 9:30 p.m. A small late birthday gathering had been held the previous month.

County postal workers collect 25 tons of food for the hungry

Frederick County letter carriers gathered about 50 000 pounds of donations during the Have A Heart For The Hungry drive from February 10 to February 15. The food will fund Union Rescue Mission Heartly House and county food banks with more groups possible.

Frederick residents lobby in Annapolis over poverty and homelessness
