Day Enforcement Bill Defeated in Maryland Legislature
Maryland will not have a state enforcement act for the next three years after the House of Delegates killed the Anti Saloon League dry bill by tabling a favorable committee report. The vote was 72 in favor of tabling, with 9 opposing. A motion to postpone consideration failed 76 to 84. The Senate faced a similar attempt to rescue the measure, which also failed, ending any chance this session for a dry enforcement bill.

Ritchie Hits School Propaganda Letters About Funding

The letters, many drafted by teachers and signed by parents under threat of punishment, arrive in thick bundles and mirror each other in substance though county wording varies. Ritchie denied the propaganda claim, saying the state budget plans for increases over three years, and noted no cut to the education fund.
