Two North Carolina thefts lead to sentences in court
In Circuit Court Associate Judge Patrick M Schnauffer sentenced Billy Roy Wensil and Charles Mauldin both of Concord to 30 months in the State Reformatory for Males for grand larceny in the theft of a strong box containing at least 1500 from Dr John H Messier of Johnsville. Pic Anthony C Potenza of Buffalo was found guilty of manslaughter by automobile in the death of Virginia Darleen Hawes and received up to 18 months in the reformatory. Potenza previously faced 18-month House of Correction term set by Magistrate Wilbur F Sheffield Jr. The case also covered Potenza’s car collision near Mt Prospect church that killed the Hawes infant. Johnson, 17, received a three-year suspended sentence for property theft in Burkitsville. Pullen denied pressuring legislators on votes.

New Jersey Gasoline Dealers End Strike
In Newark New Jersey gasoline stations reopened today ending a two day statewide strike over price fixing legislation. John Dressler president of the New Jersey Gasoline Retailers Association called off the strike last night. About 1500 of the states 5000 stations were padlocked during the walkout to curb a spreading price war in gas sales.

Investigation Report of Strongbox Theft
