Testament Distribution Contested by School Board

In Westminster Maryland the Carroll County Board of Education seeks to continue distributing New Testaments to students, while a plaintiff filed an injunction in Circuit Court January 26 alleging violation of the First and Fourteenth Amendments. Judge Boylan ordered responses due by February 17, with the board urged to deny the injunction to allow continued distribution. The plan limited Testaments to a single elementary grade and to students who requested them, with costs borne by the board.

New York columnist HAL BOYLE opines on modern life stress, arguing career women face greater tension than housewives. He jokes that clothing claustrophobia from tight outfits worsens nerves and ulcers, urging looser dress and comfortable shoes for better mood and efficiency.
