Civitan Clubs Elects School Board Members At Frederick Dinner
The Civitan Club of Frederick approved an elected school board at a Francis Scott Key Hotel dinner last night after a written proposal and discussion. Two new members were inducted by President Elmer W. Singer. William Hill and Irving Ramsburg, with sponsors and bios noted. A pancake breakfast fundraiser and an upcoming Ladies Night were announced amid a talk on petrochemicals by Irvin Ramsburg and W. J. Meighan. Attendance prize went to Louis Kinsey. Fund rationing began March 1, 1943.

Free Trade Wins Test on Easing Tariffs Vote
Washington Feb 10 The House Ways and Means Committee approved Eisenhower’s free world trade plan by 20 to 5, clearing the way for a floor battle next Thursday and Friday. The panel rejected many restrictive amendments and kept to extending the Reciprocal Trade Agreements Act for three more years past June 12, allowing the President to negotiate tariff reductions.

Tariff Slashes Proposed By House Leaders Under Review
The plan seeks lower tariffs on foreign goods entering the United States in return for concessions abroad.
