CAF Occupies Airport Office Despite Agreement

Frederick city officials confirm the Confederate Air Force still uses the Airway Café office space two weeks after the last August air show. Red Cross shifts Frederick center to platelet collection

The Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Region of the Red Cross will end whole blood collection at the Frederick donor center on Thomas Johnson Drive by February end to install platelet equipment. Spokeswoman Pat Lakatta notes platelets are in higher demand at Frederick Memorial Hospital and only six Red Cross centers in the state extract platelets. Donating platelets takes about 90 minutes and carries no extra disease risk. Donors may still give whole blood at other centers in Gaithersburg or Columbia, or via planned bloodmobile drives. MSD budget woes push summer study at Maryland School for the Deaf

Frederick man dies in crash near Thurmont

Frederick 22 year old David Ray Dudley drove a 1996 Ford Ranger east on Md 77 near Tower Road when it crossed the center line and struck a tree. Passenger Michael Robert Clark, 21, of Thurmont, was flown to Washington County Hospital and listed in stable condition later Saturday.
