Ice storms strain Frederick County salt supply and roads
Frederick County faces water ice pressures as forecasts predicted more storms while salt stocks run low. Hospitals report many ice related injuries though ER visits total 137 in 24 hours. Police log 12 auto accidents and 11 falls as roads iced and power briefly flickered. Local schools and offices closed early with downtown businesses near deserted as crews battle slick conditions. Three wheelers on unlicensed roads prompt warning to wear helmets though not required by law.
