Heed College plans to convert the farm facility on their northern 50 acres into student housing and a conference center. Phase one remodels the dairy barn for 33 students by fall with Spanish House on Dill Avenue to add more rooms for off campus living. phase two adds a connecting bridge and upgrades two barns for additional housing by 1976.

County votes for first phase of county trash system
The Board of County Commissioners approved the initial phase of a county wide trash collection plan with Thurmont Emmitsburg area as the pilot. Commissioners Wirts and Lewis opposed.
