Jobless Hagerstown Man Too Qualified to Work
John Collins a former Fairchild-Hiller engineer in Hagerstown Maryland says he is deliberately over qualified and accepts only lower pay. His family of five struggles on $800 monthly income with savings dwindling and food stamps aiding. He notes aerospace layoffs have left him out of work and fears no area offers suitable openings for someone with his background.

100000 Troops To Stay In Viet After Next May
Washington AP reports the number of U S ground combat troops in South Vietnam after May 1 may exceed 100000 rather than 45000 as White House figures. The distinction lies in combat versus security roles and phase three of Vietnamization. Melvin Laird says combat forces will remain in Vietnam in a security capacity to protect bases, airfields, and depots. If combat duties shift to South Vietnam by July 1, U S forces could drop to 260000 or fewer, with up to 130000 in security roles. In a separate note from Chesham England, pensioner Charlie Winfield, 94, renowned as the champion of the Chilterns at draughts, has played 90 years.
