Post War Air Plans For U S
Washington February 9 A Civil Aeronautics Board study by examiners Madden and Beitel outlined a plan to extend air transport to 16 473 incorporated communities not now authorized for service. They foresee limited demand in small cities, require subsidies or mail pay for major expansion, and propose a feeder carrier system distinct from trunk lines using single engine planes with one pilot. Only 288 points currently receive direct air transport, serving 42 million people, while 41 million in unserved communities await potential service. war suspensions and postwar auto recovery temper expectations for rapid air growth.
