Duke plans land donation tied to plant approval
Duke Energy maintains its pledge to donate about 600 acres around the proposed Pond Ul Rocks power plant for conservation and recreation regardless of local opposition. The 761 acres total would include about 29 acres for the plant with portions protected by easements and land trusts. Duke says the land plan aims to quell fears of noise and visual impact, and the project’s move to a less conspicuous site seeks public confidence.
