Banks Agree to Cash Welfare Checks in Maryland
State officials and Santal Services reach an agreement to allow welfare checks to be cashed at banks with a photo ID code. Marylanders will receive a mailed questionnaire to gauge opinions on national issues as Congress debates wage controls offshore energy and defense spending. Burkittsville hosts a town meeting at 7 30 p m on Monday February 10 in the Parish Hall.

Woodsboro Ladies Auxiliary opens 1975 with jan meeting at 6 28 pm in the hail led by President Gloria Giadianli. 37 members and 2 guests attend the covered dish supper marking the 19th anniversary of the group. The secretary’s report and communications are read. Treasurer’s report shows balance 5671 20 as of Dec 3 1974. Ways and Means balance 522 43 for 1974. Birthdays remembrances total 125 25 and 125 55. A post New Year’s breakfast shows receipts 1988. Gladhall passes the gavel and pins the president’s pin on Rush Martie who pledges success in 1975. Communications sheets distributed. members urged to serve on appointed committees. Under new business Elaine Cornell proposes six calls to buy pitchers for the next meeting. Betty Crum motion seconded by Clara Rippelman to adjourn the Auxiliary. February refreshment committee named Virginia Hasemend Pasvline Biddinger Evette Uneman. Members reminded dues are due before March. Meeting adjourned with prayer and colors retired.
