Bill would reallocate seats lifting state House to 148
A House of Delegates bill proposed by Delegates Gilbert Gude would redraw the state constitution with a census based apportionment. The plan would increase the House from 123 to 148 seats, but Frederick County would lose a seat under the forecasted 1960 population, from six to five members. The Planning Commission estimates Frederick County’s 1960 population at about 69,800, up from 62,600 in 1950.
