Man charged after Laytonsville burglary arrest
A 24 year old man with a prior burglary record was arrested outside a Laytonsville home late Thursday armed with a screwdriver wrench and flashlight. Police said Mark Daniel Haines was seen near the residence by an alerted homeowner and captured by Officer Gerald Pendry. Authorities tie him to a wave of early morning burglaries across Damascus Gaithersburg and North Potomac since Jan 29, with 13 incidents in single family homes between 12 30 and 5 30 a m. The suspect entered through ground floor windows and fled with cash from purses and briefcases. Rockville court records show previous similar burglaries dating to 1989 including one in Frederick. Haines received suspended sentences and probation previously.
