Weather service forecaster Dick Diener says light snow and rain are likely today with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation before switching to rain. Highs reach mid to upper 30s Saturday, then drop to the 20s. Sunday warms slightly to the low 30s. Chance of snow returns Tuesday through Thursday depending on a southerly storm path.
Six people are charged in a $20,000 tool theft case tied to Coffey Jeffery Inc on Perry Road Fire Tower Road. Suspects include Zimmerman Ridgely Langley and White with two 16 year olds also charged. A stolen 1986 Ford truck was found abandoned in the Monocacy River and tools recovered from a storage trailer and an auto parts store search. The investigation continues.
Western Maryland and Maryland mountains see snow turning to rain on Saturday with highs in the upper 30s, southwest winds about 15 mph and a 70 percent precipitation chance. Saturday night clears with lows in the 20s, Sunday sunny and cooler in the mid 30s. Extended outlook through Monday to Wednesday shows partly cloudy to cloudy with highs in the 30s and chances of rain or snow.
Rita Mae Baugher, 36, of Damascus was found guilty of battering Trooper Jason Merritt after a March 7 1993 crash at Md 80 near Green Valley Shopping Center. Jurors acquitted her of battery on Clarence Barnard and of driving under the influence. The trial spanned two days with about 90 minutes of deliberation.
Frederick resident Paul Everett Broberg 27 was released on bail by Montgomery County Circuit Court awaiting appeal of his homicide by vehicle while intoxicated conviction for the April 25 1993 death of 11 year old Tommie Blank Jr. of Buckeystown. He had been denied bail earlier in Frederick County.
Germantown man Trenton L Trenholm was sentenced to 40 years with 30 years suspended for first degree murder in the March killing of Caleb Allen IIT. Judge DeLawrence Beard ordered a life term reduced by plea bargain. Trenholm can seek parole in 15 years. Allen, 27, was shot five times in the head and neck and left near the Seneca Schoolhouse Museum on River Road March 29.
