Court Rules Against City In Light Case Involving Hagerstown Plant
Judge Frank G Wagaman of the Washlegion counts court granted an injunction restraining Hagerstown from erecting a new municipal electric plant costing about 300000. The case centers on whether the city can furnish power for sale to compete with Potomac Public Service Corporation and whether the Public Service Commission permit is required. The decision splits between municipal power plans and existing utility interests, with potential appeals and impact on Frederick area residents.

Want Revell Named for Fire Manager at House of Correction
Speculation among Frank Revell’s political allies in Anne Arundel County centers on his potential appointment as fire manager for the House of Correction. Despite strong endorsements for Stevell, Governor Khtehie and Director Emory L. Cob-jants did not back him. Revell, a lifelong farmer, could be urged by the governor for the post under Col. Claude B. Sweezey, the new warden, aided by budget power to raise salaries. Appointment decisions rest with the warden, subject to the Board of Welfare, while Joseph A. Delaney of Baltimore City has been named assistant warden. The institution’s storekeeper Mina Myrtle Lankford, daughter of the outgoing warden, is expected to leave with her father. Rev. C. N. Fosbecke remains a stout supporter of the Lankford group. The medical committee urged abolishing the chaplain’s post to fund more medical services, but Welfare has not acted. Dr. J. F. Barker, on the board, helped push the benofi. Rev. Hammelbaugh’s aunt died prompting his travel to Mt Holy Springs. Watch The News grow me a one.
