Dr Andrew G Truxal former Hood College president emeritus died Wednesday in Naples Florida at 71 after a heart attack while on vacation He led Hood from 1948 to 1961 later presided over Anne Arundel Community College for seven years He co authored The Family in American Culture and Marriage and the Family in American Culture Funeral Saturday at Hood College Coffman Chapel Donations urged to Hood libraries or the Andrew G Truxal Library in Severna Park
City police investigated three burglaries reporting more than 600 dollars in stolen money and jewelry. A Dorothy Falk safe on North Bentz Street held a 255 dollar diamond ring 160 cash 40 in rings and watches and 10 in silver. Private Mohler led the initial probe. Around 138 dollars vanished from Maynard Palmer cabin at Barbara Fritchie Cabins with Private Strong as lead investigator. About 24 dollars disappeared from Bertha Tipps Park Place bedroom dresser while she worked Sgt Heerd led the inquiry. Also, Raymond Weedon 33 West All Saints Street was charged with assault and battery with a hearing set in Trial Magistrate's Court Bond 500 dollars. Frederick County Teachers Association protests a January 1 lifting of a $1,500 salary increase ceiling and funding of a community relations director position, arguing retroactive pay for affected staff and different funding priorities. American forces totaling 9000 sweep the northern South Viet Nam area while 20000 Vietnamese troops moved into Cambodia, bringing the total ground forces involved to about 50000.
Downtown parkers failed to pay January parking tickets within three days, doubling fines for 332 violators and boosting 33 others after seven days. City Police advised payment at Frederick City Hall or Police Headquarters within the initial window, with later payments due at the North Market Street station.
