Fr Quitman F Beckley of the Dominican order is appointed pastor of St Marys Catholic church in Johnson City Tennessee He is the youngest son of the late Captain Quitman Beckley and Mrs Carrie Beckley Born February 6 1891 in this city he studied at St Johns Literary Institute and St Charles College He was ordained in 1915 and earned a Canon Law degree at Catholic University of Washington His war service includes navy chaplaincy in Atlantic Fleet the Marine Corps in France and the Croix de Guerre He later served with the American fleet and the U S Naval Reserves and taught at Hequinas College His relatives include Civil War and Spanish American War veterans His friends extend congratulations and wish him success in his new role.
