Gates Pa Feb 3 Twenty five miners died in the blast at the Gates mine of the H C Frick Coke Co as of today. Twenty two bodies were recovered while three remain buried under slate in the wrecked entry. Rescue crews moved to Edenborn to reach the affected section.
The Associated Press reports a plenary session of the Arms Conference has been scheduled for 10.20 am tomorrow in Washington. A separate note tells of a maid secretly using an elderly bishop’s bath tub, who rebukes her for doing so behind his back, illustrating a Wayside Tales moment.

Whether the money will be obtained by internal taxes or the use of the proceeds from the refunded war debt or both remains to be determined. Fordney expects the bill to be ready for the House within two weeks and thinks only a few days will be required for its passage.
The Health Department reports 1,122 influenza cases in New York, a new high over 1,052. Fifteen deaths occurred, up seven from yesterday, while pneumonia deaths reached 72 with 206 pneumonia cases, up from 186.
Washington February 3 Senate amendments to the Allied debt refunding bill were accepted today by the House. The measure now goes to the President who is expected to appoint 300 on the commission which is to open negotiations with the debtor nations.
Fire destroyed the Lehigh Valley Railroad repair shops in Jersey City New Jersey causing an estimated loss of 200000 dollars. Railroad detectives suspected incendiary origin. It marked the third serious blaze in the big terminals at Jersey City and Hoboken in three months.
The fate of Roscoe Arbuckle remained with the jury early today as they deliberated a manslaughter charge over the death of Miss Virginia Rappe. The panel began deliberations at 3.42 p.m. Wednesday.
