He has been approached about the Republican nomination as present Mayor Jacob Ramsburg steps aside. Aerojet Facility Nears Completion and New Building Hailed
Aerojet General Atlantic Division adds a third building next to the airport, now 90 percent complete and due for use by February 15 for prototype development assembly and storage. The new cement-block 42 by 62 foot structure rises with a metal roof and is designed to match the existing complex. Contractor Floyd Culler led the project begun last fall. Aerojet General, affiliated with Ordnance Engineering and a General Tire subsidiary, is based in Azusa California and notable for missile and space systems work and an automatic mail sorter project installed in Miami and St. Louis.

State Roads Commission to seek bids on US 15 link north of Emmitsburg
The State Roads Commission will open bids Friday for a 0.585 mile section of new US 15 north of Emmitsburg to the Pennsylvania line. District Engineer Thomas G. Mohler said the federal aid project covers grading draining and surfacing and will connect with relocated US 15 in Pennsylvania. A pre bid meeting is set for February 19 at 10 am in Mohler's Baltimore Street office.

Hosiery Plant Closes in Hagerstown
The Hagerstown plant of Martinsburg Mills, formerly Interwoven Stocking Co, will close March 1 after 38 years. About 100 employees receive notice. Production of men’s hosiery will end there while Martinsburg and Berkeley Springs plants in West Virginia continue operations. Roy Bivens, plant manager, cites economy as the reason. No disposition decision yet. The firm has operated in Hagerstown since 1888, originally founded by Ellis Roof who spun it off to Interwoven in 1936 and later sold to Martinsburg Mills.

Picked Up Speeding Man With A Mismatched License
State police pursued a 1954 Dodge on Route 40 west of Frederick with speeds over 65 mph. The driver handed Trooper Alderton a license issued to Harry M. Grossnickle, 76, of Myersville, though the man was younger. Grossnickle admitted using his father’s license to prevent his father from driving. A search of the farm yielded many licenses but none matched the driver. He was charged with speeding driving without a license and displaying.
