Strine Retires After Nearly 40 Years With Post Office
Russell L. Strine, a letter carrier in Frederick for almost four decades, retired Wednesday. He began as a substitute on July 1, 1925 and became a regular carrier on December 16, 1934. Strine served on the Board of Oil Service Examiners and trained new carriers. He lives with wife Lois Miller Strine at 25 North Market Street.

Jefferson Couple Hurt In Wreck
State Police charged Robert D. Holcombe of Union Pennsylvania with drunken driving after his 1958 sedan collided head on with a Rover family vehicle on U.S. 340 around 7 45 am injuring William D. Rover 42 and Beulah N. Rover. Both were taken to Frederick Memorial Hospital with serious injuries while Holcombe treated for minor injuries and released.

Five Thousand Dollars Stolen From Cascade Bank Office
A thief or thieves broke into the Thurmoent Bank temporary office at Cascade late Wednesday night or today and escaped with more than $5,500 in cash. The break in was found by Mrs. Dorsey Lovell around 6 am today. Investigators from the Hagerstown state police and the FBI are on the case as bank staff inventory funds. The trailer type facility had opened recently while a permanent building site advances.

Six Month Quota Surpassed in City Bloodmobile Drive
