A Baltimore County judge upheld involuntary transfers of nine officers who subjected two women to sexual vulgarities and pranks in the Eastern Traffic Division. The ruling said the moves were to end a good old boy network and not punitive, while criticizing the officers for their obscene and childish conduct. Montgomery County Police said an 18-year-old Rockville man was shot in the abdomen after surrendering a necklace and cash to an armed robber in the 1400 block of Thornden Road around 4 a.m. The suspect, black and about 18, fled. Earlier, a Crown gas station at 15830 Shady Grove Road was robbed by two black men, ages 18 to 20, one with a revolver. Both fled east with money from the register and safe. Police in Manhattan’s Washington Heights saw a flood of participants trading firearms for $100 Toys R Us gift certificates, as the city’s gun amnesty extends through January 6. By 5 pm 403 guns had been surrendered, with participants from across New York City and beyond.
Sean Thomas Imes age 20 received an 18 month term for distribution of a substance resembling illegal drugs and a two year term for cocaine distribution. The sentences run consecutively totaling three years at Frederick County Adult Detention Center with three years supervised probation.
