USDA Concludes Boxcar Survey Findings and Limits
The survey by the ASCS and 48 states analyzed 350000 grain haulage boxcars, finding most moved within three to four days while about 21228 cars stayed idle two to four weeks. The study covered rural and medium cities, excluding large metropolitan rail hubs, and noted a deficit in boxcars for harvest transport despite rising grain production.
