New Bureau of Standards to Rise in Gaithersburg
The National Bureau of Standards will relocate its 120 million dollar, 500 acre Gaithersburg facility near Frederick County. About 3,000 staff will work there with 1,600 post doctoral scientists, and the site will house a nuclear reactor and linear accelerator for irradiation research. Completion is planned for 1966, with new jobs and economic impact for Montgomery County and Frederick City.
