Frederick County has been awarded 24 991 dollars in federal funds to supplement emergency food and shelter programs. The award is 42 percent less than last year, said Frederick County United Way President Charles Riddle who expressed gratitude. A Maryland appeals court affirmed the February 1995 dismissal of Charles Brooks Davis, saying FBI drug surveillance tapes show possible narcotics law violations by a Frederick City Police officer. Davis, 41, was filmed at a crack house with an informant in 1994 leading to a nine count firing and pending misconduct cases now dropped.
Frederick shoppers packed stores for after Christmas sales on Thursday. Value City Department Store reported long return lines as Kurt Dishong noted strong demand for discounted items. MJ Designs at Frederick County Square also drew crowds, Walter Ring said. Hilda Offutt waited an hour and a half at Harmmond’s Christmas Shop for 50 percent off items to store for next year.
