MATAPEAKE Dec 26 Construction on the Chesapeake Bay bridge was delayed when a strong wind tore loose a barge and grounded a 300 foot span. The span had been assembled at Sendy Point and moved to the bridge center to be hoisted as part of the main arch. One worker on the barge was rescued by a launch crew. Two boats failed to tow the barge and grounded near the Matapeake ferry landing. Engineers hoped to re tow the barge before it capsized.
