Units include 100 rentals by Bronson Construction in West Seventh Street and Toll House Road, 20 for sale by Catoctin Construction on Catoctin Avenue, 50 rentals by Stewart-Bainum in Washington on Motter Avenue, 50 rentals by Alton Homes on Opossumtown Pike, and 10 for sale by Martin Mankin on Baughman’s Lane. Work must start within 60 days. location was prioritized due to Camp Detrick.

Five Calves Born To County Cow On Xmas Day
On Christmas day a Holstein cow on Silas D. Bittle’s Myersville area farm gave birth to quintuplets, a locally unprecedented event. Only two calves survived, weighed 174 pounds in total, and a veterinary check was planned. Officials deem quintuplets extremely rare with high mortality risk.

2000 Toys Distributed By Legion
More than 900 children representing 180 city and county families received about 8000 toys as Francis Scott Key Post No. 11 American Legion completed its annual Christmas toy distribution. Legionnaires repaired painted and loaded toys in Winchester Hall and distributed them by trucks manned by James and Joseph Geisinger Charles Birely and William Baker. Countywide aid came from the Children’s Aid Society the County Health Department and several schools. Wilbur W. Baker chaired the committee noting cooperation from merchants service clubs and others produced a larger newer toy selection and a very successful drive.

His 1949 Mercury was demolished after pulling from Unionville intersection and hitting Jack Carl Nicholas, 22, of Route 4 Westminster. Nicholas suffered lesser damage to his car. Grimes, 41, of LeGorg, faced charges after a Woodsboro collision on Route 7h with Harald M. Stitely, 1048 Ford, as Grimes’ 194T Pontiac crossed the center line. Grimes’ car damage estimated at $200. Stitely’s at $300. Grimes jailed, released on $1,000 bond.
