Carriage Runaway Injures Five In Frederick Crash

Bond denied in Mount Airy shooting
A man accused of shooting his wife to death while she slept was denied bond. Downs, 31, faces first-degree murder and related charges and remains jailed without bond. Three children, ages 8, 4, and 7 months, are in the custody of their grandparents after the fatal attack in Mount Airy. Police found a 357 handgun nearby and continue to investigate motive. Charles Brown 70 of Frederick began rebuilding his uninsurable residence after a March 4 1989 fire caused by a faulty basement stovepipe. Volunteers from H O U S E joined with neighbors to reconstruct the home at 302 Broadway St. Brown returned daily with plywood and tools gathering a roof patch and new windows, striving to finish the project with community aid.
