Upper county mayors push Subin on Travilah quarry landfill
Elizabeth Tolbert of Barnesville and Charles Elgin of Poolesville urged Montgomery County Council President Michael Subin to press state officials to study Travilah quarry as a county landfill. They warned the upper county will fight any siting that threatens water supplies and urged involvement of Sen. Larry Levitan and Delegate Gene Counihan. County officials noted ash disposal and a new incinerator plan, with the quarry seen as a long term backup.
