A head on crash on Ballenger Creek Pike in dense fog killed Joanne White an eight month pregnant passenger. Her baby could not be saved at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Injured were William G. White 18 Lester W Kipps 41 and Lester L Kipps 12 all treated and reported in satisfactory condition. Police say Kipps drove off the road into a concrete abutment. no charges yet filed.

Teenager Charged With Drunk Driving After Collision
An 18 year old William F. Blank of Frederick was charged with drunken driving after his eastbound car struck two parked vehicles on East Patrick Street around 5 38 p m Wednesday. A passenger William E Burns 19 was treated for minor injuries and released from Frederick Memorial Hospital. Damages totaled 1000 for a Monrovia residents 1963 sports coupe and 200 each for two other vehicles. No charges were filed in a separate Fort Detrick entrance accident.

Man acquitted of kidnapping hangs self in victim’s basement
James Edward May 34 of Westminster hanged himself in the basement of Mrs. Martha L. Reaver’s home near New Windsor after being released from Carroll County jail. Thief Steals 471 Cartons Cigarettes From Truck
City police search for a thief who stole 471 cartons of cigarettes worth more than 1000 dollars from a vending truck. The theft was found by John H Eyler at about 9 30 am in an alley behind his Walnut Street residence. Police say the locked truck showed no sign of forceful entry. Wenner resigns as deputy states attorney in Frederick County
