Pre-Holiday Crime Wave Hits Baltimore Area
A Dundalk tavern owner reported a dawn robbery of 53167,690 as the city faced a pre Christmas crime wave. Police pursued a getaway car through northwest Baltimore after a gunman demanded money and fled in a dark old model auto. Nearby Glen Burnie saw another armed robbery and a suspect, Harry Stratemeyer, 51, held on $1,500 bail after a guilty plea earlier. Other thefts included a Baltimore County furniture store cash loss and two robberies at real estate offices and a liquor store.

Four people were hospitalized after a head on crash on Route 144 two tenths of a mile east of Ridgeville Carroll County just after 10 PM. A/2ec Thomas E Fox home from Brevard Florida was airlifted to Walter Reed for eye surgery. 16 year old Robert A Brashears in a coma at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Morris I Skinner and Louise E Johnson in fair condition at Frederick Memorial. Police say a 1958 Ford crossed the center line and struck a 1948 Oldsmobile. The Johnson, Brashars and Fox parties were passengers in the respective vehicles. Trooper Bosley continues the investigation.
