Fire destroys Pelletier store in Sioux City blaze
A large fire in Sioux City Iowa starting at the Pelletier department store spread through two entire blocks, burning three banks and the Western Union office. A wind aided the blaze as first responders and outside help fought the flames, with one firefighter killed and damage exceeding one million dollars. The To Building at Fourth and Jackson housed the Pelletier store and First National Bank before the fire engulfed the neighboring Massachusetts block.
