Soldier's family prays as he deploys to battlefield
The Shealy family from Boonsboro on South Mountain watched as their son Spc. Ray Shealy embarked on a new Army mission in Italy after years of training and service. Ray Jr. recalled a childhood full of daring stunts, while his brother Daniel, 14, dreams of joining the Air Force. The parents express pride and anxiety, acknowledging Christmas will be spent apart but support his commitment. Ray Jr. previously lived near Fort Lewis and Italy, meeting his wife Annette in college.

Walkersville Ambulance Fees Debate Delayed to Jan 4
Ambulance membership drives propose annual costs of 5 dollars for seniors 10 dollars for individuals and 15 dollars for families with refunds for insurer-covered charges. County officials endorse the plan for funding while Walkersville volunteers push for revenue recovery and caution about state regulation and workload. Edith Rinehart opposes the plan’s rollout. Commissioner Reeder calls for a Jan 4 review meeting, a plan accepted 4 1 with Hoke dissent.
