The 6th District congressional contest in Washington raised and spent over 1.1 million by five candidates, far eclipsing 1990 totals. Delegate Tom Hattery led money and outspent rivals Byron and Bartlett, though defeat in November followed a March primary win. Recession Officially Declared Over by U S Commerce

GDP grew 3.4 percent in the July September quarter, the best since 1988, with private investment seen rising 5.3 percent in 1993. Airlines charged with fixing prices
