Firemen offer tips for a safe holiday with trees and lights
The Frederick County Volunteer Firemen's Association Fire Prevention Committee urges precautions for a fire free Christmas. Saw 1 inch off the cut tree trunk, keep it in water, and replenish as needed. Place away from exits and heat sources, avoid candles on the tree, and use US approved light sets. Replace frayed wires and turn off lights when away. Do not place electric trains under the tree. If using metallic tinsel, follow safety guidance.
