Vigilantes May Aid Tennessee Troops in Shelbyville
In Shelbyville Tennessee a mass meeting of business leaders proposed forming a vigilante committee to aid in maintaining order after a race riot. The group would assist authorities and act as an armed body if needed while National Guard troops withdraw. The town mourned two dead and a $150,000 courthouse fire raged, as E. E. Harris faced trial for assault on a white girl.

Christmas program by Lions Club at Key Hotel
The Lions Club held a Christmas program during its noon luncheon Thursday at the Francis Scott Key hotel. Rev DeWitt P Zuse pastor of Centennial Memorial United Brethren church spoke on Christmas 1934. Christmas carols were sung with Hart Etchison presiding and Rev John G Traver as a guest.
