A farm truck loaded with hay on the Ceresville Walkersville road caught fire early today after becoming disabled from a broken axle. The 199 Chevrolet stake body truck, owned by Neomas te. Stitely Jr. of Frederick, sustained about 3908 in damage before Walkersville volunteers extinguished the blaze. A flare warning motorists may have been knocked under the truck by a passing car. Mrs. Dean Johnson of Union Bridge discovered the fire at 3 20 a m and alerted the Walkersville firefighters. Investigation by Sergi C D Mades followed.

Escapee Is Held After Wild Denver Kidnap Escape
An escaped California mental patient and his teenage bride were captured in Denver after a police chase. The man, Jesse Eastman alias Red Cloud, 35, fled with Clo Ann Mowatt Wiegner, 17, from Daly City, California, after abducting her at gunpoint. They had eloped to Montana and married, with Clo Ann later placed in a juvenile home and Wiegner in Napa State Hospital. The escape car crashed in a West Denver gulch. Clo Ann was hospitalized in critical condition with possible skull fracture. Wiegner had scalp wounds. A .22 rifle was found at the scene. Eastman fled. police planned further searches.

Towson Maryland Carl Daniel Kier was sentenced to die in the gas chamber for the brutal bludgeon and stab murder of Mrs. John H Boost Jr a well to do Baltimore County matron. Judge Michael Paul Smith imposed the penalty while noting the violent crime with no date set for execution.
