Union Bridge band formed in freight car history told
Union Bridge, Dec 19. Edgar Wolfe of Bark Hill recalls the Union Bridge Brass Band origins as the Western Maryland Brass Band formed in 1866 with meetings in a freight car. He led the group during a director’s absence and notes the current band, about 27 strong, under L. D Penn. The old band wagon, built by John Snyder, remains with Isaac Sayler, while living members include Charles Devilbiss Anton Budge Jesse Englar and Jesse L King.
