Old Fort Frederick Relic of Colonial Days Described
Fort Frederick near Hagerstown sits 12 Washington comn-47 Wilco VWaronel Centre, 7 miles west of Hagerstown on the Potomac Valley division. Built in 1756 during the French and Indian War, the fort occupies an acre and a half, with walls 17 feet high at the tallest point and a grand view over the Potomac River and Chesapeake and Ohio Canal. It is owned by the heirs of Nathan Williams, whose nearby home stands by the walls. The fort has drawn many visitors since the railroad near it was built. A separate note mentions Mrs. D. S Haushen sending a Christmas box to Sherman, Texas, about 1700 miles away, for Christmas personal to her ace, Lye, who will be in Viatta, Indian Territory on New Year’s Day.
