Civil rights progress noted in Jewish Comittee report
The American Jewish Committee published a 30 page pamphlet titled The People Take the Lead marking progress in civil rights over seven years. The piece notes gains since 1847 including fair employment education and public accommodation laws, more Negro college faculty, and thousands of integrated students in the South. It highlights the 1954 Supreme Court school desegregation ruling as a culmination of ongoing changes. Also: Redskins sign tackles J D Kimmel and Vic Thomas for 1955 season.
